Entries

With three days to go before the race we have 245 entries. There should be enough places for people who want to enter on the day, (The limit is 300).

The 2009 Race

The race will be held on Sunday May 31st 2009 at 10 a.m.

Prices for next years event will remain the same as last years.

We are going to have prizes for Veterans in next years event and also 2nd and 3rd place prizes.

2004 Marathon

If anyone has the results of the 2004 Marathon, I would be very grateful for a copy. We do not have the information available and need it for our archives.

World Record Attempt at Needles XC Marathon

Adam Holland, who is 21, wants to become the youngest person to complete seven marathons in seven continents and the youngest person to run 100 marathon. The youngest person to run 100 marathon is currently a 28-year-old, and the youngest person who managed to complete seven marathons in seven continents is 24.

Adam successfully completed the Needles XC Marathon on June 1st 2008. This was his 18th out of the 100. He will need to complete 13 per year if he is to achieve his goal. To keep up to date with his exploits you can visit his website HERE.

Next Years Race

Breaking News.......

The committee have agreed to organise the race again in 2009. The date will be set probably in September although it is likely to be in early June or late May.

The results for the race are posted below. We had a very successful day again with 230 entries which is a record. Hope everyone got home safely.

Half marathon:

1. Isle of Wight Road Runners: 2+11+36 = 49 points
2. New Forest Runners 9+39+59 = 107 points
3. Ryde Harriers 15+26+74 = 115 points

Full marathon:

1. Yeovil Town Road Runners 3+6+32 =41 points
2. Portsmouth Joggers 1+23+50 = 74 points
3. City of Salisbury 51+52+55 =158 points
