Next Years Event Update

Just to remind you that next year's event will be a HALF MARATHON ONLY. We hope to reinstate the Full Marathon in 2011 if we have enough organisational and voluntary help.

There will also be NO ON THE DAY ENTRIES.

An application form will be available before via a link from this site before the New Year. Entries through Runners World should also be available at this time.

Next Years Event

We have just decided to organise a half marathon next year. There will not be a full marathon. This is because we did not have enough support and volunteers this year and consequently we experienced a number of problems with the 2009 event.

After the 2010 Half Marathon, we will review the situation and may consider organising a marathon for 2011 depending on the level of support that we can expect to recieve.

Charity Presentation

Following the success of this years Needles XC Marathon and Half Marathon we were able to present both the Kerry Green Trust and The Freshwater Lifeboat with cheques for £750.

Entries

With three days to go before the race we have 245 entries. There should be enough places for people who want to enter on the day, (The limit is 300).

2004 Marathon

If anyone has the results of the 2004 Marathon, I would be very grateful for a copy. We do not have the information available and need it for our archives.

World Record Attempt at Needles XC Marathon

Adam Holland, who is 21, wants to become the youngest person to complete seven marathons in seven continents and the youngest person to run 100 marathon. The youngest person to run 100 marathon is currently a 28-year-old, and the youngest person who managed to complete seven marathons in seven continents is 24.

Adam successfully completed the Needles XC Marathon on June 1st 2008. This was his 18th out of the 100. He will need to complete 13 per year if he is to achieve his goal. To keep up to date with his exploits you can visit his website HERE.

Next Years Race

Breaking News.......

The committee have agreed to organise the race again in 2009. The date will be set probably in September although it is likely to be in early June or late May.
